PTO: 4 scheduled weeks off per calendar year (Monday through Sunday), excluding Holy Week, Christmas Eve week, and VBS week
Job Overview
West Lawn UMC is seeking an Audio/Visual Technician to coordinate and carry out the technical aspects of worship services, events, and other ministry programming on our church campus. This person will play a key role in supporting worship through audio, video, livestream, and presentation systems, while also helping recruit, train, and support volunteers on the Production Team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with technology, able to multitask effectively, demonstrate strong initiative and dependability, and be committed to producing clear, high-quality audio, visual, and livestream experiences. Experience in sound engineering and related A/V systems is preferred but not required. West Lawn UMC is willing to provide professional third-party, one-on-one training and on-the-job training with the current A/V Technician for the right candidate who is eager to learn, self-motivated, and able to grow through both guided instruction and independent effort.
Typical Work Week

- Sunday mornings from 7 AM to 1 PM
- A weekly worship rehearsal, generally held on Thursday evenings for approximately 2 hours
- Additional weekday hours for service preparation, ProPresenter programming, volunteer coordination, equipment oversight, training, and other technical responsibilities
- Agreed-upon special services and events throughout the year
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and execute the technical aspects of worship services, worship team rehearsals, funerals, weddings, and special events in collaboration with pastors, musicians, and ministry leaders
- Oversee and execute audio mixing for in-house and livestream productions to ensure clear, consistent, and high-quality sound
- Manage and operate video switching, recording, and livestream equipment to ensure smooth and reliable production
- Create, organize, and run ProPresenter presentations for worship services and other agreed-upon ministry events
- Help manage the A/V budget by tracking expenses, identifying needs, and coordinating purchasing with the supervisor
- Maintain inventory of A/V equipment and help coordinate routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair as needed
- Stay current with relevant A/V systems, tools, and best practices through ongoing training
- Help recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers on the Production Team
- Other duties as assigned
Additional Expectations
- Be present for Sunday worship services, weekly worship rehearsals, and agreed-upon special services and events (such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, VBS, and Christmas Eve)
- Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with church staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and congregation members
- Demonstrate initiative, reliability, accountability, and a strong problem-solving mindset while working both independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
- Comfort with computers, technology, and the ability to learn new systems is required
- Experience with sound engineering, audio mixing, Resi (livestreaming), ProPresenter, digital mixing consoles, or similar A/V systems is preferred but not required
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, communicate clearly, and solve problems effectively is essential
- A strong work ethic, dependability, self-motivation, and the ability to learn through both training and independent initiative are expected
