Safe  Haven  Lighthouse

Safe Haven Lighthouse is an afterschool program held at West Lawn UMC that serves the school-age children of our community. Safe Haven Lighthouse is held on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. beginning in September and operates until May. We provide a snack, craft, Bible lesson, games, and homework help. Our program is offered at no charge to the families.

We offer transportation for children from Whitfield Elementary School to our church. All children are welcome in at Safe Haven Lighthouse, they just need transportation to/from our church.  We follow the Wilson School District calendar, so when Wilson is in session on a Wednesday, then we have Safe Haven Lighthouse.

If you need further information, please call the church office at 610-678-5611 or complete the form below.
May 2025 Update:
We have been having a lot of fun this spring. We took a trip to the Reading Museum to interact with the Wild Kratts adventures. The kids had fun playing with the different displays they had.
During Holy Week, the kids made Resurrection Rolls as Bonnie told them the Easter Story. The crescent roll is the tomb, the marshmallow represents Jesus, and the butter and cinnamon represent the oil and spices put on Jesus. When they come out of the oven, the body of Jesus has disappeared, and the tomb is empty.

We had a scavenger hunt for the kids to find their Easter bags. They had to look for clues and then Bible scripture to find out where their bag was hidden.

We have had a lot of fun and really enjoy our group of kids. Our school year is quickly ending. If you know of any children that would like to join us in September, please contact us.

Peace,
Lori Madara and Bonnie Rissmiller
