Safe Haven Lighthouse is an afterschool program held at West Lawn UMC that serves the school-age children of our community. Safe Haven Lighthouse is held on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. beginning in September and operates until May. We provide a snack, craft, Bible lesson, games, and homework help. Our program is offered at no charge to the families.
We offer transportation for children from Whitfield Elementary School to our church. All children are welcome in at Safe Haven Lighthouse, they just need transportation to/from our church. We follow the Wilson School District calendar, so when Wilson is in session on a Wednesday, then we have Safe Haven Lighthouse.

Happy Spring from Safe Haven Lighthouse!
Our ministry finished 2025 by assembling personal care buckets for our members on the Caring Community List. The kids enjoy doing this every year. We partner with the Women of Faith for this project. We take the kids to the homes of our homebound members that live near our church and we sing Christmas carols. We enjoyed our visits with these ladies.
In January we took a trip to Nova Adventure as a gift for the kids. They enjoy all the jumping and climbing stations that are there. The adults get tired just watching them.
In February we made some Valentine crafts while explaining to the kids that God’s love for us is the greatest love of all.
We observed Ash Wednesday with a message from Pastor Tom in the Sanctuary. After his message Pastor Tom administered communion and ashes to us. We are at the beginning of our Lenten journey and hope that this message stays with the kids throughout the rest of the year.
This school year is going by way too quickly. We are blessed to be able to be a positive part of all our kids’ lives. We have an excellent group of kids, and we enjoy seeing them every week.
