Safe Haven Lighthouse is an afterschool program held at West Lawn UMC that serves the school-age children of our community. Safe Haven Lighthouse is held on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. beginning in September and operates until May. We provide a snack, craft, Bible lesson, games, and homework help. Our program is offered at no charge to the families.
We offer transportation for children from Whitfield Elementary School to our church. All children are welcome in at Safe Haven Lighthouse, they just need transportation to/from our church. We follow the Wilson School District calendar, so when Wilson is in session on a Wednesday, then we have Safe Haven Lighthouse.
If you need further information, please call the church office at 610-678-5611 or complete the form below.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Safe Haven Lighthouse
Once again, we have an excellent group of kids, which makes our time spent with them such a blessing.
Safe Haven Lighthouse was founded over 20 years ago and we still are providing a great after school program for our neighborhood kids. We are funded by the Eastern Conference of the United Women in Faith. This group has generously provided all our funds for many years, and we are very appreciative of that.
This past October we took our annual fall trip to Brecknock Orchards. We all love it out there. The Martin family is very welcoming, and the kids love all the areas they have to run around and play in the outside game area. One of the highlights is the whoopie pies and cookies that we purchased from the store.
In November we went to Plum Creek for a field trip where we enjoyed ice cream and delicious soft pretzels. We were able to sit in the fireplace area and have our Bible lesson review. The kids did get some time to play on the outside play equipment.
In December we will be partnering again with the United Women in Faith from our church to provide personal care items to our members in nursing homes and those that are homebound. The kids enjoy filling up the buckets and then we deliver some of the buckets while we sing a few Christmas carols.
We all have been greatly blessed by God and enjoy sharing that here at Safe Haven.
So, from our Safe Haven family to yours – Merry Christmas! And God’s love and peace to you all year long.
Shalom,
Lori Madara and Bonnie Rissmiller
