Faith Without an Audience - Pastor Chris (2.18.26)

Feb 18, 2026    Pastor Chris

In Matthew 6 from the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus confronts the temptation to turn faith into performance—doing good, praying, and fasting to be noticed—calling us instead to live before the Father who “sees in secret.” Lent becomes a return: spiritual practices aren’t about applause or reputation, but about love for God, honest devotion, and storing treasure in heaven by a life shaped by grace. Tonight, Communion reminds us we receive mercy we can’t earn, and ashes remind us we are mortal and dependent—so we lay down the mask and re-center our lives on God as our true audience.
