WE ARE HIRING!

YOUTH PASTOR

As Trisha Rabold prepares to conclude her service as our Youth Pastor, West Lawn United Methodist Church is beginning the search for the person who will lead our Youth Ministry into its next season. We are grateful for Trisha's ministry among our youth and families and are especially thankful that Trisha and her family will continue to be part of the West Lawn church family.

West Lawn UMC is seeking a gifted, relational, and spiritually mature Youth Pastor to provide leadership for our established ministry with students in grades 6–12 and their families. We are looking for someone who genuinely loves Jesus and young people and who is passionate about helping students grow in their faith, develop meaningful relationships, discover their gifts, serve others, and become active participants in the life of the church.

The Youth Pastor will provide spiritual and organizational leadership for the ministry, including weekly youth gatherings and discipleship opportunities, biblical teaching, Confirmation, retreats, mission trips and service opportunities, special events, pastoral care, parent communication, volunteer development, student leadership, outreach, and integration of youth into the broader worship and ministry life of West Lawn UMC.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a mature and growing Christian faith; a genuine calling to ministry with teenagers; strong relational, teaching, communication, leadership, and organizational skills; and the ability to recruit, equip, and encourage adult volunteers and student leaders.

A bachelor's degree in ministry, theology, Christian education, youth ministry, education, counseling, social work, or a related field is preferred. However, candidates with significant youth ministry experience, demonstrated leadership ability, and strong biblical and theological competency are encouraged to apply. Ordination is not required.

A Flexible Staffing Opportunity

We recognize that the right candidate may be in a different season of life or ministry. For that reason, West Lawn UMC is intentionally open to structuring this position as either approximately 30 hours per week or a full-time 40-hour position, depending upon the successful candidate's experience, gifts, availability, and desired level of responsibility.

Under a 30-hour model, the Youth Pastor would work alongside our existing part-time Associate Youth Pastor. Under a 40-hour model, the Youth Pastor would assume the broader responsibilities of the Youth Ministry.
Our priority is not simply filling a predetermined schedule. Our priority is finding the right person to lead our youth and families into the next season of ministry.

Interested? Or Know Someone Who Might Be?
During this initial internal search, we invite members of the West Lawn church family who believe they may be called and qualified for this position to prayerfully consider applying.  See the description of the job here.
We also encourage you to think about the people you know. If someone comes to mind—a friend, family member, ministry colleague, former youth leader, teacher, or other individual whom you believe could be a strong candidate—we would be grateful if you would share this opportunity with them.

Interested candidates should complete the application below and then submit a resume, cover letter, and list of references to Tom Ebersole, Lead Pastor at tom@westlawnumc.org.
