wHAT WE LEARNED THIS WEEK:

This week's story comes fro Matthew 5:14-16. We learn that, Jesus is the Light of the world—the whole world! Followers of Jesus get to do something really special—reflect that light to the world. We can reflect the light of Jesus by showing compassion to others around us! Remember, compassion is caring enough to do something about someone else’s need. When you love others and care enough to meet their needs, [Bottom Line] you can shine God’s light.

WAYS TO ENGAGE

MORNING TIME: As your kid starts their day, tell them of a way they encouraged you on a dark day, or a special trait they have that draws people to them.
WHILE ON THE GO: While on the go, ask your kid: “Who is someone you know who stands out from the crowd? What is it about them that makes them different and special?”
MEAL TIME: At a meal this week, have everyone at the table answer this question: “What does it mean to shine God’s light? And how can you do that in the places you go every week?”
BEDTIME: Pray for each other: “God, help us to shine Your light to everyone we meet—both inside our home and outside it.”
ASK QUESTIONS:
What is something that shines bright?
What can you do this week to remember that you can shine God’s light?
Where can you be a light this week?
