Kids' Lesson, August 17
SCRIPTURE: Mark 10:46-52 (Jesus Heals Bartimaeus)
KEY QUESTION: When has someone made time for you?
BOTTOM LINE: Make time to help others.
MONTHLY MEMORY VERSE: "Let your light shine so others can see it." Matthew 5:16a
MONTHLY VIRTUE: Compassion
wHAT WE LEARNED THIS WEEK:
This week's Bible story and lesson look at when Jesus healed a man named Bartimaeus. Jesus was a busy man on a mission, but He didn’t let that stop Him from taking the detour to help Bartimaeus. Jesus knew it was worth it to show compassion.
Sometimes, making time to help others is a sacrifice, but when we are willing to set ourselves aside and make time for others, we shine Jesus’ light to those around us!

WAYS TO ENGAGE
MORNING TIME: As your kid starts their day, ask them if there is something you can help them with this week. (We know you do a lot, but it’s good for your kid to know they can ask you for help if needed.)
WHILE ON THE GO: While on the go, ask your kid: “Tell me about a time when someone spent extra time with you and made you feel special. What did they do or say?”
MEAL TIME: At a meal this week, have everyone at the table answer this question: “Who is someone you’ve met lately who needs help? Were you able to help them? Why or why not?”
BEDTIME: Pray for each other: “Jesus, may we follow your example and see the people around us who need us to shine Your light.”
ASK QUESTIONS:
When has someone made time for you?
How did you feel in that moment?
How could you make time to help others this week?
