Refresh Berks Mobile Shower
Volunteer Sign-Up Now Open!

Refresh Berks Mobile Shower volunteer sign-up is officially open! If you'd like to make a hands-on difference on a day the shower trailer is out serving the community, this is your opportunity.

As a volunteer, you'll greet guests warmly, provide towels and shower products, and clean the showers between occupants. You'll also help the Refresh Berks team with setup and breakdown of the trailer. The trailer features two private washrooms where individuals without access to bathing facilities can take a hot shower in comfort and safety. The mission: restore dignity, improve public health, and connect individuals with essential services – one shower at a time.

West Lawn anticipates helping 1-2 times a month, starting in June:
- Tuesdays: 2-4 PM at Cafe Esperanza (Greenwich Street, Reading)
- Thursdays: 12-2 PM at Riverfront Park (South 3rd Street, Reading)

In 2025, Refresh Berks brought Berks County its first-ever mobile shower trailer, offering a lifeline to those experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. Their mission is simple but powerful: to restore dignity, improve public health, and connect individuals with essential services – one shower at a time. More information can be found on the Refresh Berks website.

The West Lawn congregation has proudly supported Refresh Berks since its inception through the Christmas Miracle Offering, contributing $50,000 to this worthy cause. Volunteering is a wonderful way to extend that commitment, and show up in person for our neighbors in need.

Refresh Berks Kickoff Splash

Saturday, May 17 was an exciting day at West Lawn. The Refresh Berks Mobile Shower unit made its debut with a Kickoff Splash here in our parking lot. People from all over Berks County came out to see the trailer, meet the organizations involved in bringing this dream to reality, and hear more about its mission to restore dignity to every individual. Senator Judy Schwank, along with Pastor Tom Ebersole and West Lawn members Jack William and Charlotte Rismiller, spoke about the trailer's importance and purpose.

Through your generous Christmas Miracle offering, West Lawn presented Refresh Berks with a $20,000 portion of that donation. Through this monetary gift, we continue to care for the well-being of all people, seeing every person as worthy of fighting for. Just as Jesus called his disciples to feed the hungry and clothe the naked, He’s also calling us to love, to see, and to lift up those who’ve been left behind by providing them a fresh start. Thank you for being the church that shares Jesus’ hope and love to all people, one shower at a time.
